Thin Aircraft Cable - Choose stainless steel or galvanized steel wire from a large selection. Cables can help move objects, load objects, and support the rigging and lifting industries. Their use can be static (architecture for example) or dynamic (cranes for example). Cables facilitate movement than gears or levers. They can be used to move one thing or another from one place to another (eg an elevator). And even though cables have no moving parts, cables are actually extremely complex mechanical structures.

Cable Operation: Cables attached to a crane or winch, with swivel joints, shackles or hooks installed at the end for controlled loading and movement. Applications include lifting and lowering elevators and tower and bridge suspension systems. For more comparison of stainless steel and galvanized steel in general - Click here

Wire rope has a steel core or wire and may also have a lubricant. These are metal wires forming a single strand. These strings form the individual strands of the string. The wire rope can be stainless steel wire or galvanized wire. Galvanized steel wire can be found as a candidate in the electrical industry (guy cable). There are different fibers that are characterized by their resistance to abrasion and their resistance to breakage.

Stainless steel is made by adding chromium to molten steel and resists rust and water damage (even salt water). Stainless steel is the best element for marine environments (due to its properties). Since stainless steel is an alloy of iron with a very low percentage of chromium (10.5%), the surface of the steel has a thin layer of oxide. This layer is called the passive layer. Thanks to this layer, corrosion on the surface is avoided. Stainless steel also contains carbon, silicon, nickel, molybdenum and manganese in varying concentrations. Since stainless steel contains many elements, it has a variety of useful properties, including increased corrosion resistance and increased formability. Stainless steel wire rope is highly corrosion resistant in salt water (more corrosion resistant than galvanized wire rope) and is perfect for marine applications. One of the most attractive and striking characteristics of stainless steel is that it remains unchanged over the years; stainless steel look won't tarnish or fade and provides a lasting shine. Due to the shiny property of stainless steel, it is used for modern architectural and display purposes (railings, handrails, cable railings, architectural cables, etc.)

Galvanized wires are dipped in molten zinc to achieve a thick zinc coating - forming a galvanized steel cable. The wires are stretched to reduce diameter and increase tensile strength. The thick outer zinc coating protects the wire against corrosion.

Galvanized cables are strong and flexible and offer excellent ability to withstand bending stresses. Other key properties of galvanized steel wire include crush resistance, abstraction resistance, rotational resistance, corrosion resistance, and strength. The outer layer of zinc resists corrosion and therefore galvanized steel is commonly used in screws, nails, nuts, bolts and other fasteners. Galvanized steel cable prevents damage from water exposure but cannot withstand the onset of salt water like stainless steel cable.

Galvanized wire rope is less expensive than stainless steel wire and has higher breaking strength than stainless steel rope. Galvanized wire rope also has excellent corrosion resistance with high fatigue strength. Although galvanized steel cables are less subject to wear than other cables, the galvanizing properties of cables reduce friction (lubricant). Galvanized steel cables facilitate corrosion testing and remain malleable longer.

Since galvanized wire is so versatile, it is used for fastening, protection and support. The wire's protective, rust-resistant outer coating makes it resistant to all weathers and climates. The strength and durability of the rope is useful for supporting wall splashes, paints, etc. Securing building materials with galvanized wire rope is ideal for building homes and businesses. Galvanized wire fence is a boon for homes as it deters animals and humans from intruding.

Other applications of galvanized wire rope also include winch rope, safety rope, engineering application, chain rope, garage door rope, etc.

There are many types of stainless steel wire rope and galvanized steel wire rope. The type of wire rope is selected based on the application and the complexity of the job. The use of cables is beneficial as it reduces the amount of work to be done. Wire rope has superior strength and durability; manufactured in such a way that the resistance of each rope is so strong that a rope is extremely rigid for any type of damage. The cables are not too expensive; worth every penny as the workload is reduced by using cables.

Thanks for looking! ...LCW TeamCarlisle Interconnect Technologies () has developed aerospace composite cables and insulated cables to overcome the limitations associated with polyimide and XL-ETFE, and improve the airframe wiring designs now available. Our composite cables save weight and space without sacrificing the mechanical and thermal performance of the wire. Our Tufflite® and Seamless™ cables meet the need for a small, lightweight, 260° arc flash resistant general purpose wire.

The Seamless-T series of products meet the enhanced "seamless" and improved insulation requirements of AS22759/180-192, once again raising the bar for exceptional performance.

Our seamless PTFE jacket and cable insulation provide all the benefits of sleeving with the smooth appearance and mounting characteristics of extruded materials.

The increased wall thickness version uses aluminum conductors for power supply applications. Improved mechanical performance, including superior flexibility compared to traditional polyamide insulated power cables. TLA is rated at 175°C.
